Eirwen began work as a Graduate Trainee at Cheshire West and Chester Council in 2022. Here she tells us more about her experience.
"As a Graduate Trainee on the National Graduate Development Programme (NGDP), I get the opportunity to gain experience in multiple areas of the Council.
"So far, I’ve worked in both the communications and economic growth teams before moving to the transformation team. I’m also completing a Level 7 qualification in leadership and management alongside my work. I’ve learned so much from my colleagues and am proud of how my confidence has grown since starting here.
"I’d never thought about working in local government until I heard of the NGDP, but I knew I wanted a job that would make a difference to people’s lives. I chose the Council because I want to be involved in work which has a positive impact and provides essential services for residents.
"I’ve been involved in multiple interesting projects including cost of living communications, providing key information and guidance to people who need support.
"I’ve also written an Inclusive Economy Delivery Plan, which is all about helping those who have the fewest advantages in life to access more opportunities.
"I look forward to work every day because everyone I’ve worked with has been so welcoming and supportive. I can see how passionate colleagues are about the work they do, and their dedication is inspiring.
"One of the best things about working at the Council is the flexibility it provides. It allows me to balance work with my home life, giving me the time to and energy to take care of myself so that I can bring my best self to work."
